From today's Logbook  :

course 321, distance to APARRI (north Philippine) 421nm. Since yesterday, strong winds, with violent peaks, and heavy rain. Dark and cloudy sky. As hervé put it : since departure from  Palau, we broke the second (and last) conveyor belt for the water pump. Now without an engine, we "brainstorm" about how to repair it or make a new one ...

We tried different options all day. The upper lip of a boot, a piece of sandow, the binoculars leash, some rope ... ultimately, Koronui gets it with a  piece of woven dynéma ... And myself stuck headown in the engine compartment for one hour, while a continuous swell rocks the canoe, and we keep the engine hatch up to avoid to much water to get in ... Efforts worth it, for the engine runs again ...

Punua and Hervé's idea to reuse the broken belt, sewn in a kind of socket is kept for next time !

What a relief ! After slaloming between storms, to know that we'll be able to approach and enter Aparri's harbord using our engine...
